Drop-in midsole replacement engineered to your existing last geometry and tooling. Springbak supplies finished midsole units to your factory floor. No formula transfer, no process documentation, no compound IP disclosed. The private Springbak formulation is never shared under this model — you receive a certified, production-ready unit, not the recipe.

SB-OEM, SB-CD and SB-LM differ in one decisive way: how much of the Springbak IP moves to you. Here is exactly what each tier includes — and what it does not disclose.
Finished midsole units supplied FOB to your factory floor, engineered to your existing last geometry and tooling. Minimum order is 5,000 pairs per SKU with a 6–10 week lead time from spec approval. You receive a technical integration brief and CAD reference files, Shore A and rebound certification per production lot (AQL 2.5, ASTM D2632), a dedicated account engineer for spec alignment, and an optional quarterly performance audit. No compound formulation or processing parameters are disclosed — you get a certified, production-ready unit, not the recipe.
A milestone-based joint R&D agreement to engineer a bespoke Springbak variant to your performance targets, running 6–12 months to a production-ready compound. It includes a performance target definition workshop, up to six compound prototype iterations, independent ASTM/ISO lab validation, production scale-up support, and negotiable category exclusivity, with a dedicated Springbak R&D engineer assigned. A mutual NDA is executed at project initiation. The private base formulation is not disclosed; the base technology remains Springbak IP and co-ownership applies only to jointly developed novel variants.
The only tier with full transfer of the private compound formulation and process documentation. It includes the complete formulation and processing parameters, tooling design specifications and supplier list, five days of on-site process training for your production team, annual QC audit and recertification by Springbak engineers, and access to compound updates while the license is active. Minimum volume is 50,000 pairs per year on a territorial license — exclusivity available at a premium — with a per-unit royalty on net production.
SB-LM only. Under SB-OEM the formulation is never shared, and under SB-CD the private base formulation stays confidential while a custom variant is co-developed to your spec. Springbak's four issued U.S. patents are public and can be reviewed today; the manufacturing know-how held as trade secrets is disclosed only under a negotiated licence with field-of-use, territory and term defined.
SB-OEM: Springbak retains all IP and supplies finished units. SB-LM: Springbak retains ownership and grants you a licence to manufacture. SB-CD: the Springbak base technology remains Springbak IP, and jointly developed novel variants are co-owned as defined in the engagement agreement.
Start with SB-OEM if you want the performance benefit in a model quickly with no tooling investment and no formula access. Choose SB-CD when your performance targets fall outside the three standard durometers and you want a variant engineered to spec. Choose SB-LM when you have the in-house manufacturing capability and annual volume to produce the compound yourself and need territorial exclusivity.

Yes. The compound is compression moldable and injection moldable and is compatible with standard EVA/TPU last geometry and tooling. Under SB-OEM, Springbak handles all molding — under SB-LM, tooling design specifications are included in the transfer package.
The complete private compound formulation and processing parameters, tooling design specifications and supplier list, on-site process training for your production team (5 days), annual QC audit and recertification, and access to compound updates while the license is active. It is the only tier where the private formula is disclosed.
Every production lot is tested to AQL 2.5 with an ASTM D2632 rebound test per lot, and ships with Shore A and rebound certification. An optional quarterly performance audit is available for ongoing programs.
Yes. 48, 55 and 60 Shore A are the standard variants available under OEM supply. Custom durometer targets are engineered through the SB-CD co-development program, with rebound, durometer and fatigue testing on each prototype iteration.
