Springsoles questions and answers

Materials, sizing, orders and returns, and how Springbak® Springsoles work.

Materials

What are Springsoles made of?

Springsoles are a thin 3/32-inch layer of resilient 1,4-polybutadiene. They are made in the USA.

Are Springsoles a medical device?

No. Springsoles are not a medical device and are not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any condition. If you wear a prescribed orthotic, ask the clinician who prescribed it before adding any layer or changing its placement.

Sizing and fit

What sizes are available?

Choose the range that covers your shoe size. US men's: 6/7, 8/9, 10/11. US women's: 7/8, 9/10, 11/12. EU: 38/40, 41/42, 43/45. UK: 5/6, 7/8, 9/10.

How do I install them?

Try it untrimmed first. If the factory liner is removable, try the Springsole underneath it. If the liner is glued, remove it only if it releases cleanly with gentle, steady pressure; if it tears, stretches, deforms or resists removal, leave it in place and put the Springsole on top. Confirm it lies completely flat.

Can I trim them?

Trim only if needed for a flat fit, removing very small amounts from the toe or forefoot and rechecking the fit after each trim. Never trim the heel, and do not unnecessarily narrow the sides.

Orders and returns

Where do I buy Springsoles and what do they cost?

Orders are placed in the secure springbak.net store, which always shows the current price and size availability.

What is the return policy?

Payment, shipping, order status and returns are all handled by the Springbak® team on springbak.net. To ask about a return, contact the team through springbak.net/contact.

Does Springbak offer Springsoles partnership or licensing?

Yes. Footwear brands and factories can work with Springbak® through three tiers: SB-OEM finished component supply, SB-CD co-development and SB-LM licensed manufacturing. Compare them at springbak.app/partnership and send an enquiry from springbak.app/oem.

How Springsoles work

How do Springsoles work?

The 1,4-polybutadiene layer is designed to compress and return toward its shape with each step. That energy return is the intended material function, not a measured athlete result. The design is covered by four U.S. patents: 5,554,694, 5,695,850, 6,120,880 and 6,589,630 B1.

What did the Weber State study measure?

Force plate testing at Weber State University found it took more than twice the force to displace a person standing on Springsoles compared with standing without them. That is a standing resistance-to-displacement measurement. It did not measure jumping, sprinting, walking, fatigue, pain or injury outcomes. Individual results vary.
