Ankle Return-to-Play
Six weeks of progressive loading, balance and hop testing to get a rolled ankle back to cutting with confidence.
How to run it
- Pain is the gate. Anything that leaves the joint sore or swollen the next morning was too much — repeat the previous week.
- Four short sessions beats two long ones for a healing joint.
- This block complements medical care; it does not replace an assessment for a joint that is unstable or won't bear weight.
Springbak® note
Confidence returns when landings feel supported. Install Springsoles under your insoles from phase 1 and keep them in for the phase 3 hop testing.

Pass a hop-test battery with less than 10 percent difference between the injured and healthy side.

Phase 2 · Weeks 3-4
Single-leg strength, balance progressions, straight-line jogging.
Phase 3 · Weeks 5-6
Hopping, cutting and reactive work, then the symmetry battery.

Questions about this block
When can I return to a match?
When the hop battery is inside 10 percent, you've completed two full practices without swelling, and you can cut at full speed without thinking about it.
Do I still need a brace?
Ask the clinician who assessed the ankle. Bracing and this block are not mutually exclusive.
